Last weekend Andrew and I took Haven to Shaggy Pines Dog Park to use a coupon for a free visit.  We used this opportunity to meet up with a dog we fostered.  I’ve kept in touch with Amber’s mom.  In fact we’re watching Amber for a few days next month.

While we were there we saw Annette, our then current foster dog.  She was actually having a sleep over with another volunteer that was interested in adopting her (and since has – yay Annette).  Being a beagle Annette loved the open space to run.

It was no use trying to keep up with Annette.  She was off running around following her nose.  We could see her in the distance running around in all of her beagle glory.  She’d come buzzing by from time to time but never stuck around for too long.

She loved chasing after the other dogs and being chased.  She didn’t care if a dog that she was playing with was more than twice her size.  She has no fear.   She’s a physical player and liked taking on the big dogs.

There’s a pond at Shaggy Pines.   During one of her drive-bys Annette stopped for a drink.  She waded a bit and walked around.  As she walked she got deeper in the water.  I thought that she’d turn around and go back to shore since beagles aren’t known for liking the water.  It was surprising that Annette was even wading in the water to get a drink.

But I was in for even more of a surprise.  Annette kept going deeper in the water and started swimming!  She did this to get to another section of shore.  I thought that after one swim some of her beagle genes would kick in and she would realize that she shouldn’t like swimming.  Nope, Annette’s not like most beagles.   She swam a few more times throughout her stay at the dog park.

I’m happy that Annette has found her forever home.  And I’m often in contact with the volunteer that has adopted her so I’ll be able to get updates on how she’s doing.  Congratulations Annette!!  😀
